Óbidos é Casa de Rainhas.
A ligação da Vila com as mulheres é longa, repleta de lendas e histórias de princesas mouras e cristãs, rainhas, artistas e mulheres comuns que deixaram um legado interessante e uma aura que se sente no burgo.
Neste Mercado Medieval de Óbidos acercamos a condição feminina em tempos da Idade Média.
Os Homens medievais desconheciam a Mulher e, como tal temiam-na: o seu corpo e as reações, para eles tantas vezes incompreensíveis, a sua apregoada malignidade, o seu poder de sedução.
Mas dela dependiam para perpetuar as suas linhagens. Só havia uma maneira de agir: submetê-la, controlá-la, cercear-lhe, tanto quanto possível, qualquer poder de iniciativa.

Portugal no Guiness com a maior bandeira humana...

PORTUGUESE FEMALE POWER On 20 May 2006 we had the pleasure of spending 48 hours in Portugal adjudicating an attempt on the Guinness World Record for the Largest Human National Flag. The record to beat was set in Scotland earlier this year when 13,254 fans formed the Saltire, the Scottish national flag, at a Scotland v France Six-Nations game at Murrayfield Rugby Club. Held at Lisbon's national stadium, the event was organized by a company called Realizar who had plenty of experience having organized seven other successful Guinness World Records attempts. These include the Largest Hockey Stick, a staggering 56 ft 7 in ( 17.25 m) long, the Largest Human Logo made up of 34,000 people (part of Portugal's successful bid to host the Euro 2004 soccer championships) and the Largest Football with a whopping diameter of 19 ft 10 in (6.06 m)!
