Today’s Date Is A Rare Event That Hasn’t Happened In 900 Years


O dia de hoje, 02/02/2020, é uma data palíndromo - isto é, quando a sequência de números de dia, mês e ano pode ser lida em qualquer ordem: da direita para a esquerda, e da esquerda para a direita, sem que o significado se altere.
O “fenômeno”, também conhecido como capicua, é raro: só acontecerá mais uma vez neste século, no dia 22 de fevereiro de 2022 (22/02/2022). Depois, só quem estiver vivo em 21 de dezembro de 2112 (21/12/2112) poderá presenciar novamente. A primeira data palíndromo do século 21 foi em 20 de fevereiro de 2002 (20/02/2002).

PORTUGUESE FEMALE POWER On 20 May 2006 we had the pleasure of spending 48 hours in Portugal adjudicating an attempt on the Guinness World Record for the Largest Human National Flag. The record to beat was set in Scotland earlier this year when 13,254 fans formed the Saltire, the Scottish national flag, at a Scotland v France Six-Nations game at Murrayfield Rugby Club. Held at Lisbon's national stadium, the event was organized by a company called Realizar who had plenty of experience having organized seven other successful Guinness World Records attempts. These include the Largest Hockey Stick, a staggering 56 ft 7 in ( 17.25 m) long, the Largest Human Logo made up of 34,000 people (part of Portugal's successful bid to host the Euro 2004 soccer championships) and the Largest Football with a whopping diameter of 19 ft 10 in (6.06 m)!
