O Escafandro e a Borboleta


A 8 de Dezembro de 1995, um acidente vascular cerebral (AVC) mergulha o jornalista Jean-Dominique Bauby num coma profundo. Ao acordar, descobre que todas as suas funções motoras estão deterioradas. Está encerrado no seu corpo - apenas consegue controlar o movimento de um olho. E será esse órgão a sua ligação com o mundo e com a vida. Será a piscá-lo que começa por indicar "sim" ou "não" até avançar para a sinalização de letras do alfabeto, construindo palavras e frases. Será assim também que escreverá "O Escafandro e a Borboleta", cujas frases memorizou antes de ditar. Esse livro e este caso verídico estiveram na base do filme protagonizado por Mathieu Amalric e realizado por Julian Schnabel, que conquistou o prémio de melhor realizador em Cannes 2007.

Portugal no Guiness com a maior bandeira humana...

PORTUGUESE FEMALE POWER On 20 May 2006 we had the pleasure of spending 48 hours in Portugal adjudicating an attempt on the Guinness World Record for the Largest Human National Flag. The record to beat was set in Scotland earlier this year when 13,254 fans formed the Saltire, the Scottish national flag, at a Scotland v France Six-Nations game at Murrayfield Rugby Club. Held at Lisbon's national stadium, the event was organized by a company called Realizar who had plenty of experience having organized seven other successful Guinness World Records attempts. These include the Largest Hockey Stick, a staggering 56 ft 7 in ( 17.25 m) long, the Largest Human Logo made up of 34,000 people (part of Portugal's successful bid to host the Euro 2004 soccer championships) and the Largest Football with a whopping diameter of 19 ft 10 in (6.06 m)!
